Chair’s Report

The end of February already! Welcome back from summer, and to the world of water polo.

There is plenty going on for the Club already, with Flippa Ball underway on the Peninsula and both of our Senior teams beginning their Auckland League competitions last week. It’s great to see our all of our age groups training hard, and enjoying Davor’s input into both the Junior and Senior Club.

The committee is looking forward to our 2018 season prize this Saturday, which will be preceded by an SGM. I would like to invite all of our members to this meeting, to vote on the proposed constitutional amendments and get a behind the scenes look at the workings of the Club.

Finally, I am pleased to let you know that the Club’s membership is already up from 2018. There is still plenty of work to be (and being) done in this space, but it is exciting to see results from the work that the committee has been putting in throughout the last year.

Matt Southerden, Chairperson

Flippa Ball League Underway!

The brand new Te Atatu Peninsula Flippa Ball League is underway! We are now two weeks into the league, which began on the 17th of Feb with 11 teams from 6 different schools.

Every Sunday from 3pm, the Swimsation Pool at Peninsula Primary is packed with players, families and friends who are all loving the sport! For most of our schools, Flippa Ball is a new activity so it’s exciting to see everyone taking to it so positively. Well done also to our trainee coaches, who are proving a huge help in assisting both players and parents in getting used to the rules.

We look forward to see the league grow throughout 2019, and further on as it impacts on the Year 7 & 8 League and our age group programs. If you are interested in finding out more about Flippa Ball, please email us at

A huge thank you must go to our coordinator Genna Martin, and Margaret & Miranda Chase for their work in running the league, as well as Leonie Phillips and New Zealand Water Polo for their support in getting things underway.
