Waitak boys take on Montenegro!

Waitakere Water Polo Club was lucky enough to send away a group of our developing players to play against some of the best local club teams in Montenegro and international teams in Europe.

The 18 player squad, made up of Waitak boys plus some from Tauranga and Waikato (and one from America!), have spent two weeks training and playing against international sides, based out of Herceg Novi, Montenegro. They have also had the chance to train with the Born 2000 New Zealand boys side and the New Zealand Junior Mens team who are training in Montenegro for their upcoming world champs. The team was coached by Waitakere head coach Goran Sablic, whose international connections have allowed the boys to play teams from Montenegro, Russia, Croatia, Australia, Italy, Georgia, Serbia and more!

It's been an incredible experience for the boys, and will undoubtedly have led to significant development in their skills and experience. Thanks to Goran, Rod, both Mikes, Chris and Alicia for their help in making the trip a success!
