Waitakere Devils and Diamonds in Korea

Waitakere Water Polo is proud to have six of our Senior players competing at the 18th FINA World Championships in Gwangju, Korea this month.

Grace Tobin, Emmerson Houghton, Sean Newcombe, Nick Stankovich, Sid Dymond and Anton Sunde have been selected in the New Zealand squads to take on the world’s top sides, in one of the world’s largest water polo events – alongside the Olympics and University Games. The Kiwi Women have been drawn with the USA, Netherlands and South Africa, while the Men will face Hungary, Spain and South Africa in their pool.

The New Zealand Women are currently in Kurashiki, Japan for preparation with Canada, Australia and Japan. The Mens team has headed directly to Korea for training, with games beginning on the 14th of July.

Games can be watched live on FINA TV, or on Sky Sport! Head to the New Zealand Water Polo social media channels for information on game times. Good luck to both teams, we will be watching and cheering you on from back home!
