New FINA Rules
As you may be aware, FINA, the governing body for water polo and other aquatic sports, announced significant changes to the rules of water polo on the 10th of December 2018.
These changes have since been adopted by New Zealand Water Polo, and will be followed at all national championships and other NZWP competitions this year. We expect other organising bodies to make similar decisions around these new rules, and will be implementing them in our own Year 7 & 8 league.
For more information about the changes that have been made and the interpretation of them, click below to read a report by Ryan McEwen, a NZWP referee who attended the recent FINA school for referees in Brisbane.

If you have any questions about these changes and their implementation at water polo events in New Zealand, please contact John Waldow, National Referees Director – email@example.com.
