Silver for Under 21 Women at Nationals
Congratulations to our Under 21 Women who came away with a silver medal at the New Zealand Water Polo Under 21 National Championships last weekend!
The first day saw the Waitakere Women edge out Atlantis City 5-3 and take a confident win over Canterbury. Saturday was a long day, with three games against Marist, Wellington and North Harbour. Beating both Marist and Wellington qualified the girls for the gold medal match against North Harbour Maroon on the Sunday. Unfortunately the Harbour Women proved too strong, winning the match 15-7.
The Under 21 Men placed 5th, with a narrow loss to Tauranga (11-10) on the first day dashing their top four hopes. Champions North Harbour Maroon were also drawn in our pool, who the men lost to on Friday evening. They recorded good wins over the Barbarians, Hutt and North Harbour on Saturday and Sunday to finish just shy of the top four.
Well done to all of our players, and a huge thank you to coaches Davor Carevic, Sid Dymond and Grace Tobin, and managers Deb Cameron and Georgina Rennie!
