About the League

The Western Year 7 & 8 Water Polo League has been running for nearly two decades, catering to intermediate school teams across West and Central Auckland. For many players, this league is their introduction to water polo, with others coming through from Flippa Ball or Mini Polo at primary school.

We will commence our Year 7&8 Water Polo League at West Wave on Friday afternoons in Term 2 (continuing into Term 3). The first date is going to be the 3rd of May (first Week of Term 2). The deadline for entries is Friday 12th of April. If you are interested in securing training, then the due date is Friday 5th of April. In total, we will play 14 weeks over terms 2 and 3.

Further info about dates, rules and general protocol will be sent out later at the start. As we are going to be making some small changes this year in order to make the league fun and enjoyable for all types of players.

Team cost to enter the League is $700.00 GST inclusive.

Tournament dates this year (when we do not host games):

• 21st-23rd June - Auckland

• 2nd-4th August 2024 - Auckland

• 9th-13th September 2024 - Tauranga

• 19th-22nd September - Auckland

Where can it take me?

Waitakere Water Polo Club provides pathways for players to continue playing water polo beyond intermediate school, with programs for all ages from Under 12s through to Seniors, who compete in regional and national competitions. Click below to register for the 2024 season.

We can also help to organise combined teams between schools, and accept individual players into our invitational team(s) if your school is unable to field a team.
