Welcome to the Western Year 7 & 8 League

Registrations for the 2026 League are now open. You will be able to click “Enter Now” to enter your team. It is open to club members and casual users as members of a school team.

About the League

The Western Year 7 & 8 Water Polo League has been running for nearly two decades, catering to intermediate school teams across West and Central Auckland. For many players, this league is their introduction to water polo, with others coming through from Flippa Ball or Mini Polo at primary school.

We will commence our Year 7&8 Water Polo League at West Wave on Friday afternoons in Term 2 (continuing into Term 3). The first date is going to be 2026 (first Week of Term 2). The deadline for entries is TBC. In total, we will play 11-12 weeks over terms 2 and 3.

Further info about dates, rules and general protocol will be sent out later at the start. As we are going to be making some small changes this year in order to make the league fun and enjoyable for all types of players.

Team cost to enter the League is $750 GST inclusive.

• Winterfest: TBC June - Auckland

• Tim Sonderer: TBC July - Auckland

• AIMS: 5th Sept - 11th Sep - Tauranga

• NISS: TBC Sep - Auckland

Where can it take me?

Waitakere Water Polo Club provides pathways for players to continue playing water polo beyond intermediate school, with programs for all ages from Under 12s through to Seniors, who compete in regional and national competitions.

If you have any questions or wish to register your interest for the 2026 Western League, please email Liam at liam@waitakwaterpolo.co.nz. New schools are more than welcome! We can also help to organize combined teams between schools, and accept individual players into our invitational team(s) if your school is unable to field a team.
