Under 12 Overview

  • The under 12s season runs from Term 1 to mid Term 4, however children can join at any time.

  • Any player who was 11 or younger on January 1 is eligible to play. We have players of all abilities and welcome new players throughout the year - come along and give it a go! Just flick the coordinator an email in advance.

  • U12’s is the only age group that has mixed teams and they play 4 tournaments throughout the year where we enter 2-3 graded teams depending on numbers.

  • Kids don’t need to have played before, however we recommend they attend an ‘Intro to Water Polo’ session first if possible.

  • Your child is not obligated to go to the tournaments, however they are a lot of fun and a great opportunity to gain skills, understand the game and make friends!

Registration Costs: $100 registration fee + $75 per term and new members receive a loan club T-shirt (poolside, no need to order).

Training
U12 training in 2026 will be on Sundays, 9-11am.
Within this two-hour slot, trainings are split among experience levels.

We also offer Swim Training sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7-8pm. This is $110 for the term per day.

Tournaments for 2026
There is no regular competition for this age group. Instead, players take part in several competitions throughout the year depending on interest and availability:

  • Tauranga U12 Tournament, Anzac Weekend – Baywave Aquatic Centre, Tauranga | Saturday 25th April - Monday 27th April

  • Mountfort Park Kings Birthday U12 Tournament – Manurewa Aquatic Centre | Friday 29th May- Monday 1st June

  • Rowan Brown Jelly Belly U12 Tournament, Matariki Weekend – AUT Millennium/National Aquatic Centre | Friday 10th July - Sunday 12 July

  • U12 Tournament of Future Stars, Labour Weekend – Water World, Hamilton | Saturday 24th - Monday 26th October

Players can join at any time and train and pay for each tournament individually or train and pay for the entire season. You will need to have paid the term fee to participate in the tournament in that term. Players may also be offered the option to play up in our Under 14 programme.
